Here in the UK, the removal, movement and disposal of liquid waste is strictly controlled by The Environment Agency. Any company wanting to transport waste professionally must, by law, be registered as an upper tier licence holder. All licence holders can be seen in The Environment Agency’s public register. At Wet Hire, we are upper tier licence holders (registration number CBDU270699).
What is a vacuum tanker?
A vacuum tanker is the vehicle used to transport liquid waste. Also referred to as waste service tankers and vacuum pump trucks, vacuum tankers are used in various situations including in the sewage industry and by the emergency services. Pump trucks are legally allowed to transport liquids, gases and solids on the roads.
How a vacuum pump truck works
Vacuum tankers consist of a pump and a tank. The vacuum system, equipped with hoses and valves, removes air from the holding tank to create a vacuum. Once the internal pressure is equalised, waste is drawn through the pipes and into the tanker.
Tanker services
Vacuum tankers are used in the waste industry to empty self-contained systems, such as luxury portable toilets, that are not mains connected. They are also used to empty cesspits and septic tanks and we often see them being used during floods to remove water.
Vacuum tanker services from Wight Event Toilets
At WET Hire, we have our own in-house, split compartment vacuum tankers that allow us to empty and service our fleet of luxury portable toilets, as well as replenishing the water in the units. Our tankers allow us to service large scale weddings, long glamping weekends and such prestigious festivals as Glastonbury! From our base in Bath, we operate across the South and South West region, where all our customers benefit from our toilet emptying service.
We are also able to offer sewage tanker hire to other toilet hire companies without their own tankers, as well as portable shower maintenance for our own mobile shower hire customers.
Having our own fleet of vacuum pump trucks allows us to offer a wide and comprehensive service which includes:
• Septic tank cleaning and emptying
• Portable toilet emptying service
• Sewage waste disposal at a registered depot
Please see our waste tanker services for an overview of all our services.
